At Abstract Rebellion, we bridge the historical enthusiasm of this movement with today's dialogues through our advanced giclée printing, bringing the movement's stirring narratives and vibrant palettes into contemporary spaces.

A Movement Born from Revolution

Diego Rivera

 "Man at the Crossroads" (1933)

  • Description: Diego Rivera's mural was initially slated to be installed in the lobby of the RCA Building at Rockefeller Center in New York City. The fresco depicted aspects of contemporary social and scientific culture. It consisted of three panels:
  • The central panel showed a worker controlling machinery.
  • The flanking panels represented "The Frontier of Ethical Evolution" (socialism) and "The Frontier of Material Development" (capitalism).
  • Controversy: After complaints about the mural being "anti-capitalist propaganda," Rivera added images of Vladimir Lenin and a Soviet May Day parade. Nelson Rockefeller ordered the mural to be plastered over and destroyed before completion.
